Dr. María Laura Nasi: A Pioneer in Integrative Oncology

Dr. María Laura Nasi is a distinguished medical professional and oncology specialist, recognized as a pioneer in Integrative Oncology in Argentina and throughout Latin America. Her career is marked not only by her clinical expertise and leadership in the emerging paradigm of medicine based on PsychoNeuroImmunology (PNI) but also by her roles as a writer, podcast host, meditation guide, and humanistic astrologer. Her passion lies in merging her medical knowledge with her background in astrology, leading to an innovative approach to Medical Astrology.

With a multicultural background and a steadfast commitment to a holistic understanding of the human experience as a bio-psycho-social-spiritual being, Dr. Nasi has developed a unique model of care for individuals in crisis. This approach seamlessly integrates medicine and spirituality, fostering a new paradigm in healthcare that highlights the multidimensional nature of human existence and explores themes of life and death, science, spirit, and conscious living.

Currently residing once again in Switzerland, Dr. Nasi offers private and group consultations in Integrative Oncology, Medical Astrology, Energy Medicine, and Stress Reduction Practices. She also conducts workshops and retreats, available both in-person and online.

Dr. Nasi graduated from the University of Buenos Aires and specialized in Internal Medicine at Temple University in Philadelphia, followed by Clinical Oncology at the Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center (MSKCC) in New York. Her professional journey includes serving as the Coordinator of Clinical Trials for the International Breast Cancer Study Group (IBCSG) in Bern, Switzerland, and as the Director of the Research Department at the Swiss laboratory Debiopharm. With a transformative shift towards a more human-centered approach to medicine, she specialized in Mind-Body Medicine at the Harvard Mind-Body Institute ( www.bensonhenryinstitute.org ) and participated in psycho-socio-spiritual interventions for cancer patients at the Simonton Cancer Center in California ( www.simontoncenter.com ).

As the founder and president of ASOI, the Association of Integrative Oncology, Dr. Nasi has dedicated her efforts to promoting an integrative vision for cancer patients, their families, and healthcare teams. She co-created and integrated the Integrative Medicine program at Fundaleu ( www.fundaleu.com.ar ) and the FertilMente program, aimed at couples facing fertility challenges. Additionally, she founded and led the Integrative Oncology Commission of the Argentine Association of Clinical Oncology.

Her involvement with institutions focused on integrative health and spirituality includes her role as Scientific Advisor for the Columbia Foundation for Consciousness and Energy ( www.fundacioncolumbia.org ), where she initiated participatory meetings on Science and Spirituality. She has also been a member of IONS (Institute of Noetic Sciences, www.noetic.org ) and contributed to scientific committees for various startups integrating Big Data and Virtual Reality in medicine.

In 2017, Dr. Nasi published her first two books, both of which received widespread acclaim. “Cancer as a Path to Healing” (Ed. Paidós) offers a holistic perspective on cancer and guidance for those seeking to regain or maintain their health and live fully and joyfully. She is also a co-author of “Cancer and Psycho-Neuro-Immunology” (Ed. Nativa), aimed at healthcare professionals interested in applying PNI knowledge in clinical practice. In 2018, she published her third book, “Cancer as a Wake-Up Call” (North Atlantic Books, California).

Dr. Nasi also teaches postgraduate courses in PsychoNeuroImmunoEndocrinology at Favaloro University (Buenos Aires, Argentina) and the Catholic University of Montevideo (Uruguay), and has participated in the Wellbeing Program at Di Tella University (Buenos Aires, Argentina).

In 2018, she founded Casa de Salud, a meeting and exchange space focused on the physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual restoration of individuals.
